Download Bug In SCCM 2007 RTM 120 Day Eval
Today I was installing SCCM 2007 RTM into my lab and ran across an issue that was confirmed by another person. During the install process, there is a wizard tab that asks you where you want to download the updates for the install. You can either download to a folder you choose or provide a path to the files. If you choose to download to your created folder, there are about 87 files that need to be downloaded. However, after each file is downloaded, an error message pops up showing that it failed, but when I check the folder it's there.
So, I changed the option to look for updates from my existing folder thinking that since it just went RTM, how many of the 87 files could it really need? The install continued and then it failed a bit down the road. After looking at the install log file, it was validating a file in the download folder that was not there and that caused the install to fail. So, I searched the bits for SCCM in the folder and the file was there. The install was validating the file for some reason.
So, I started the install again and chose the option to download the 87 files. I had to hit ok 87 times to download all the files. In the end, the install worked like a charm without errors.
A friend I work with gave me this fix: "This appears to be a bug (already). If you go into the browser settings, LAN settings and check the “Automatically detect a proxy server” (even though you’re not using a Proxy server) and then start the downloads again they’ll continue without the error."
