SnagIT to OneNote 2007
Friday, July 27, 2007 11:14 AM

I love SnagIT and I love OneNote 2007. Like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup (PS do all those peanut butter cups belong to Reese's?) now two great things taste better together. SnagIT releases an add-on that allows you to capture directly to OneNote 2007. You can also set it to send the capture to the cursor, a new page in a section, etc.

Microsoft Exchange Certification Beta Exams
Tuesday, July 10, 2007 4:40 PM

I just found out that I passed the beta for 70-238 (Pro: Deploying Messaging Solutions with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007). I had previously passed the beta for 70-237 (Pro: Designing Messaging Solutions with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007). Unfortunately, as detailed here, I did not pass 70-236 (TS:Configuring Exchange Server 2007) and I did not get a chance to take it in beta due to some scheduling conflicts. I don't think there is any sub-designation for passing just the IT Pro tests but not the TS test so I need to do some major Powershell studying and then sit again for 70-236.

I am not sure what the long-term play is here, but Google has "signed a definitive agreement to acquire Postini" a leader in email security and compliance solutions.

Aggreg8: Exchange Working Group
Friday, July 06, 2007 11:33 AM

I have started for some time now an Exchange working group on the Microsoft\Culminis community site Aggreg8. It now has a decent amount of traffic and conversation with lots of questions posted that many in the Exchange community may find helpful. You may also be able to share your experience with others. Please stop by and take a look. I can also give out some invitations if they are needed. Leave a comment.

Update: Okay, so while traffic spiked I had been remiss in looking at post dates - nothing since 11/2006! Let's get the posting back up!

Microsoft Says WM6 TCO Better Than With RIM
Monday, July 02, 2007 5:27 PM

Microsoft published a white paper detailing the TCO on Windows Mobile 6 devices vs. RIM's Blackberry. Surprisingly they find a 28% savings in the Wm6 devices over Blackberries. And when studying the 160 enterprise customers they found 85% of them already had the incoming ports open needed for direct push since they are the same ones used for OWA. Nice.

Another iPhone Opinion
Monday, July 02, 2007 10:22 AM

I read with great interest another view on the iPhone from Michael Robertson who always has an interesting angle on any system or manufacturer that is "closed." I agree with a lot of his points. I am also very disappointed in the way that Apple and AT&T control this device, its usage and its extensibility and customization. In effect, they believe the only way it can be successful is to so totally control the experience that it will be utterly the same for everyone. It will also be rock-solid dependable, but unfortunately, to insure this they limit the device to the technical lowest common denominator. Most people have estimated that over the life of the two year contract (assuming you purchase the cheapest plan) you will spend roughly $2500.00 not counting a single post-purchase accessory. That's a lot of money for 450 rollover minutes and 200 SMS messages a month (45 cents for each additional minute over) on a dog-slow EDGE network. Michael recommends the Nokia E61i. One of these would rock as well.
