Have you had this experience?  You are sitting in your cubicle with 5 minutes left in your lunch hour.  It’s not really enough time to do anything productive so you open the games folder on your PC and stare at your limited options wishing Microsoft had included more than the old stand by’s with Windows XP.  Well the wait is finally over.  Soon that 5 minutes of your lunch hour can be spent playing one of a few new games which will be included with Windows Vista.  No discussion of gaming would be complete without a discussion of how to control who gets to play the games and when they get to play them.  Windows Vista contains a series of Parental controls that will allow parents everywhere to have a firmer grasp of the activities of their children related to Windows Vista.  Spend 15 minutes watching this entertaining and informative screen cast on Windows Vista Games and Parental Controls.

Parental control is already in the xp version. I have already set it up. My big question is will software that I have now will it run on vista and also how much will the upgrade be? If it costs the same as the xp upgrade then that is well out of the price range for people like me with a young family!!!!

This system is going to be good but will really actually suck. The parental controls don't allow your kids to live an independent life. Everything is controlled by the parent and they can even see everything the child has done. What is up with that? And the games are still bad. I don't care that I can play solitare, get some real games. Get some programs that Apple has. Still needs a lot of work.

Matt, I think you have a valid point, but we have to admit that MSFT is getting better at the amount of control we have over other people's actions. Also, so the games got a facelift for the most part, but most really GOOD games come from elsewhere. What kind of programs that Apple has would you want in Vista? Make your comments know to them here... they are watching...

As an older sister, I tried the parental controls before enforcing them on my younger siblings. And while the time restrictions are great, the web content filter is horrible. To begin with, like any web filter, it slows down browsing the web unbearably. Furthermore, even a "medium" setting blocks many innocent websites.

I think that the parental controls really does slow it down and whatever anyone says it is a bad thing. It is horrible and very cruel for a parent to do that to a child.

Parental Controls are indeed cool, but it kind of sucks that you lose access to that feature once you join a Vista machine to a domain. It would be nice to still have that available in combination with the added benefits of a domain environment.
